Dry goods are the equipment side of ReefnBid: lights, pumps and flow, skimmers, controllers, tanks and stands, sumps, additives and testing, and the odds and ends in Misc. Livestock always ships. Equipment does not, so every dry goods listing tells you how you get it before you bid.
How to tell how you get it
Look at the listing.
- Pick up only. The browse card says so in bold, next to the seller’s area. You collect this one in person. There is no shipping option and no shipping charge.
- A shipping price. The listing ships and that is what it costs to send.
- Both. The seller offers either, and you choose at checkout.
A bid is binding, so this is shown on the browse card itself, before you commit, rather than only on the listing page.
Finding things near you
Click Set your location above the browse grid, enter your ZIP, and pick a radius anywhere from 5 to 100 miles. The map shows you the area you are searching.
While the radius is on, browse shows what you could collect inside it. Clear it and you get everything back, including listings that ship. If you already have an address saved, the picker opens on your ZIP, so it is usually two clicks.
What you see about a seller
On a listing you can collect, you see the seller’s city and state, an approximate area on the map, and how far it is from you if you have an address saved. You do not see their street address, and the map circle is an area rather than a pin on their house. You will get the exact address when you arrange the handover.
Buying a mix of shipped and collected items
You can put both in one order from the same seller. At checkout they are grouped into boxes, and each box gets its own control so you can say pick up or ship for that box.
Shipping is charged per box:
- Everything the seller’s normal policy covers travels in one box and is charged once, however many items are in it.
- A listing that carries its own shipping price packs its own box and is charged separately.
- Anything you collect in person is not charged shipping at all.
Checkout shows you each box and what it costs, and those are the numbers that add up to your total.
Collecting your items
When the items are ready, the seller shows you a QR code at the handover. Scan it with your phone, check the order and what you are agreeing to, and tap Confirm pickup. That is your receipt, and you get it emailed too.
You do not have to scan anything. The same green Confirm pickup button sits on your order under Account, Activity, Orders.
Confirm when the seller has the order in front of you and you are taking it. Not before.
Orders that are half shipped and half collected
An order where one half is in the post and the other half is still waiting for you reads Partially fulfilled. That is not a problem with your order. It goes to Fulfilled once the shipped half is out and you have confirmed the half you collected.
