This Indo gold torch frag cannot be killed

I’m tearing down my old 20-gallon cube, and this tank has been neglected for the past 4 months. During this time, there was no ATO, no dosing, and no water change. The salinity swing from 1.030 to 1.020 constantly.

This torch frag was covered by vermitid snail and bubble algae yet survived. Is it browned out? Yes. Did it survive? Still yes! I’m very impressed.

But this makes me curious: why does the torch sometimes just melt in tanks that seem to be in much better condition? Maybe it is too clean for them? I know some of them live in more turbid water, right?

I wish my Holy grail would stop dying!
If you’re not growing, at least you’re not killing!

I do think HG is different and harder. I lost one before, and before it died, it seemed like small green dots were moving on its flesh at night. I wonder if there is a type of parasitic copepod that targets HG torch, which has thicker skin. Those pods did not affect my other torch.

Maybe you should try looking at night with a blue flashlight?

This is the HG torch I have lost, and if you look closely, there are small white dots on its flesh. I don’t think iodine works on them; I definitely need something stronger to kill them.
